From the morning hellos to the afternoon goodbyes, our halls were filled with excitement, laughter, and the joy of learning.

Across all of our East Porter schools, students jumped right into their lessons, connected with friends old and new, and embraced the start of the 2025–2026 school year. Our teachers and staff created warm, welcoming spaces that made the first day not just successful—but truly special.

Extra time now that the kids are heading back to school? East Porter is looking for a caring and dependable Special Needs Bus Aide to help students get to and from school safely. This is a rewarding way to make a difference in a child’s day while working just a few hours each school day. Apply today to start right away and join our team.

While demonstrating our new school safety app earlier today, a teacher accidentally activated one of the app’s emergency alert buttons. This triggered a notification through the system, but please be assured there was no safety threat at any time.

We appreciate your understanding as we continue to train staff on the new system so we can use it effectively if it’s ever truly needed.

Registration is now OPEN for the 2025–2026 YMCA After School Care (YCare) program at Kouts, Morgan Township, and Washington Township Elementary Schools.

Important Correction:
Washington Township Elementary is currently the only school that does not yet have enough enrolled students to run the YCare program for the upcoming school year. Each site must have a minimum of 15 registered students for the program to be offered.

If you are planning to use YCare at Washington Township, Kouts, or Morgan Township, we encourage you to register as soon as possible. Early registration is essential to confirm that the program can be offered at your school.

What a fantastic finale to a week and a half of hard work, growth, and music-making! East Porter's 7th and 8th grade band students wrapped up the EPiC Summer Fun Band program with a concert that showed just how far they’ve come in such a short time.

It’s amazing what can happen in just 10 days when passionate students, dedicated directors, and a shared love of music come together. Bravo to our young musicians and thank you to everyone who came out to support them! 🎵👏

Though the State Championship didn't go our way today, our Kouts Mustangs showed incredible grit and determination right up to the final out. This season has been an unforgettable journey, filled with growth, teamwork, and so many memorable moments. We're incredibly proud of every player for their hard work and for representing our community with such spirit. The future is bright for these amazing athletes!

✨️ Join PCES Special Education Parent Advisory Council for an informational event on the topic of 𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗖𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 for students with IEPs ✨️ This event is hosted by the Porter County Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC), focusing on the important topic of placement. This meeting is designed to provide valuable insights and understanding for parents, caregivers, educators, and support team members. SEPAC is honored to have PCES Supervisor Morgan Derby, M.Ed., share her knowledge and insight, with SEPAC parents also available to share their experiences as parents on this topic. Some of the areas that will be discussed are: ▪︎ What Does Placement Mean? ▪︎ What is the Least Restrictive Environment? ▪︎ What are the Continuum of Services?
