This week in Biomedical Science, our class had the exciting opportunity to learn firsthand about crime scene investigation from three guest speakers: Off. Knapp, Cpl. Alonzo, and Sgt. Graf. They discussed the critical steps taken when arriving at a crime scene. Their explanations highlighted the importance of attention to detail, teamwork, and proper procedures to ensure that evidence is collected and preserved accurately for legal proceedings.
One of the most fascinating parts of their visit was the demonstration of the FARO 3D crime scene scanner. This advanced technology creates highly detailed, three-dimensional renderings of crime scenes, allowing investigators to analyze the environment from all angles. It was incredible to see how this technology can be used to revisit scenes virtually, helping solve cases and present visual evidence in court.
It was a unique and engaging experience that helped connect our classroom learning to real-life forensic applications. We are grateful to Off. Knapp, Cpl. Alonzo, and Sgt. Graf for taking the time to share their expertise and passion for their work.
