Students in Morgan Township’s Nutrition and Wellness classes rolled up their sleeves this week for a hands-on culinary experience: making homemade pasta from scratch. Under the guidance of their instructor, students learned how simple ingredients like flour, eggs, and a little patience can come together to create something exceptional. The classroom quickly transformed into a bustling kitchen as students measured, mixed, kneaded, and rolled their dough.

The pasta-making project was a major success, with 16 batches prepared across the two classes. Students experimented with different pasta styles, crafting fettuccine, ravioli, and spaghetti with pride and excitement. Laughter, collaboration, and creativity filled the room as groups worked together to perfect their shapes and techniques. Many students noted how rewarding it felt to see—and taste—the results of their hard work.

Beyond the fun, the activity tied directly into course objectives, giving students a practical understanding of food science, meal preparation, and the value of homemade cooking. By engaging in this hands-on lesson, students gained confidence in the kitchen and built skills they can carry into everyday life. The Nutrition and Wellness program continues to offer opportunities like this that connect learning to real-world experiences—one delicious batch of pasta at a time.
