Comcast Leaders & Achievers – $2,500 -Nominees must:
Be a full-time high school senior currently enrolled at a high school within a Comcast Community
Have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher
Demonstrate financial need
Have a strong commitment to community service involvement, outstanding qualities in character, integrity and leadership
See Mrs. Symer no later than November 28thif you would like to be considered for nomination. A school committee will select 1 WT student for this award
Visiting Nurse Association Tricia’s Scholarship – Amount varies - for graduating seniors who have applied to an accredited nursing program.

Kiwanis Club of Valparaiso Tenacity Scholarship - $3,000 -
This award is designed to recognize a student for a history of overcoming adversity. Applicants will be evaluated based upon the following criteria:
Documented record of overcoming adversity - environmental, emotional, mental or physical
Academic achievement and demonstrated ability to realistically pursue post-secondary goals
Participation and accomplishments both inside and outside the classroom
Positive attitude toward obstacles and setbacks

Knights of Pythias Educational Assistance Program - $1,000 – for graduating seniors – must have a 3.0 GPA and submit transcript with SAT or ACT scores. See Mrs. Symer for an application, which must be postmarked by January 25, 2019. Two essays are required (600 words or less): one about your goals after college graduation and one about your need for financial assistance.
Great Clips Scholarship Program - $250 - $1,500 - This program supports students interested in pursuing careers in cosmetology by providing tuition assistance or tools to build the cosmetologist’s kit. Apply online at https://jobs.greatclips.com/scholarship-application no later than January 31, 2019.
Peoples Bank Scholarship - $500 - $1,000 - This award is for Lake and Porter County residents. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, have a minimum 2.5 GPA and a combined SAT of 900 or ACT of 19. Access the online application (which opens December 1st and closes February 1st) at
America’s Farmers Grow Ag Leaders Program - $1,500 -
Be high school seniors or enrolled as full-time students in college.
Plan to pursue a degree or certification in specific areas of agriculture and eligible majors (a complete list of areas/majors is available in the America’s Farmers Grow Ag Leaders Program Overview.
Have a minimum 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
Obtain two endorsements from Eligible Farmers
Students do not have to be FFA members to apply.
Valparaiso Noon Kiwanis Club Educational Grant - $1,000 - This award is for graduating senior Key Club members from Boone Grove, Morgan Township, Washington Township, Wheeler and Valparaiso High Schools. Recipients will be selected on the basis of financial need, academic excellence and service to the school and community. Pick up an application from Mrs. Symer and return it to her no later than February 15, 2019.
Jim & Betty Dye Scholarships - $12,000 – for students in Lake, Newton, Porter, and Jasper County high schools
- Minimum 1200 combined SAT or 25 composite ACT
- 3.25 or higher GPA
- University acceptance at IU, IUN, PU, PNW, IUPUI or BSU

Polish Heritage Association Essay Contest - $250 - $1,000 - This competition is open to any high school or college student, regardless of ethnic background, legally residing in Northwest Indiana. This year’s essay topic is
“What was Haller’s Army (a.k.a. Blue Army) and why was it important?”.

Knights of Pythias “Go Green, Save the World” Poster Contest - $100 - $500 - See Mrs. Symer for contest rules and regulations. All posters must be received by the local lodge no later than April 1, 2019.
Cohen & Malad, LLP Spirit of Caring Scholarship - $1,000 -
This scholarship is open to any high school senior or college student in Indiana. To apply, create a short video or submit an essay, using the following prompts:
