Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship - Up to full tuition for 4 years -

The Lilly Scholarship is for graduating Porter County seniors who demonstrate financial need, academic accomplishment, ability to communicate, desire to succeed, community service, and leadership.  Please request an electronic form of the application (which must be typed) from Mrs. Symer.  All required materials must be submitted to the guidance office by the end of the day on September 14, 2018.

 

Indiana University Wells Scholars Program - for graduating seniors who have shown exceptional academic accomplishment and promise, fine character and leadership, significant involvement in extracurricular activities, a concern for their communities, and an interest in the larger world.  The Wells Scholarship provides full tuition, academic fees, and an annual living-expenses stipend for 4 years of study at Indiana University Bloomington.

Students will be selected based on high school GPA and class rank, as well as the range and depth of academic courses taken; SAT and/or ACT scores; special academic honors and awards; unique personal qualities as indicated by extracurricular activities, community service, or independent initiatives in any area; and exceptional talent in a specific area.

WT’s 2 nominees will be selected on Friday, September 21.

Americanism & Government Test - $1,000 - The A & G Test is given in participating high schools during the month of November and is open to students in grades 10, 11, and 12.  See Mrs. Symer no later than September 25th if you would like for her to order a test for you.

 

Sallie Mae Bridging the Dream Scholarship - $25,000 - This award is for students who have overcome adversity in their lives and need financial help to fulfill their college dreams.  To be considered for nomination, please see Mrs. Symer on or before September 25th.

Wendy’s High School Heisman Scholarship - $500 - $5,000 - This scholarship is for students who excel in academics, athletics, and community service.  The application process begins at wendysheisman.com, and the Phase 1 deadline is October 10, 2018.

Louie’s Tux Shop Model Search - This annual statewide model search begins on September 1, 2018 and ends October 14, 2018.  

20 students are chosen each year to participate in a photo shoot.  At the completion of the shoot, 2 students will be named “Top Model” and will receive a $1,000 college scholarship.  Sign up for this year’s contest and view current entries at www.louiestuxshop.com/modelsearch.  

Horatio Alger Scholarship - $6,000-$25,000 - This scholarship is for college-bound students who demonstrate critical financial need.  You must have at least a 2.0 GPA, be involved in school and community activities, and be able to describe how you have overcome some type of adversity in your life.  Apply online before October 25, 2018 at https://application.horatioalger.org/Security/NewUser.aspx.   

Coca-Cola Scholars Program Scholarship - $20,000 - This is an achievement-based scholarship for graduating seniors, recognizing students’ capacity to lead and serve and their commitment to making an impact on their schools and communities.  Apply online at http://www.cokeurl.com/apply2018 no later than October 31, 2018

at 4 p.m. CST.

 

Prudential Spirit of Community Award - This award is to recognize middle school and high school students who are making a difference through volunteer work.  In each state, the top volunteers will be named State Honorees and receive an award of $1,000, an engraved silver medallion, and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C. in late April.

Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship - This award provides 200 high-achieving students interested in pursuing a career in education the opportunity to earn a renewable scholarship of up to $7,500 each year for 4 academic years.  In exchange, the students agree to teach for 5 years in an eligible Indiana school.
